Our team member Aléxia Lessa, Bioacoustics and Fish Ecology Lead at Diatom, has been awarded the Geographical Award 2025 by the Animal Behaviour Society, in partnership with the Association for the Study of Animal Behaviour and Elsevier.
Her award-winning paper, “Exposure to anthropogenic noise affects feeding but not territory defence in damselfishes”, reveals how human-made noise changes the behaviour of reef fish — a powerful reminder of the hidden impacts of sound pollution in our oceans.

Congratulations, Aléxia for advancing Marine Bioacoustics and deepening our awareness of the vital role of sound in marine ecosystems!
